BARS BREED DRUNKS

Who do the lawmakers of Virginia serve, the mighty few or the humble masses?

Don't the lawmakers know that by dropping the percentage of receipts needed from serving food from 45 percent to 35 percent, they will be putting more drunks on the streets just so restaurant owners can put a few more dollars in their pockets?

Doesn't sound like much when they say from 45 percent to 35 percent, but what happens next time when they say 35 percent to 25 percent or, worse yet, 25 percent to nothing? By that time, no one will be able to stop ``only bars'' from popping up all over. Think about it!

People who don't think bars are a problem should just go to Baltimore, where there are bars everywhere. Driving to work, you will see people waiting outside for the bars to open. In the early-morning hours, people are leaving the bars (mostly drunk and noisy). Try sleeping through the night if you are unfortunate enough to live near a bar.

And last but not least, think about how many more drunken drivers might be on the roads.
