Six schools, including Princess Anne, Bayside, Independence, Plaza and Lynnhaven middle school and the Center for Effective Learning are currently involved in an ongoing mentorship program, which offers a unique opportunity to students in need of an extra supportive person in their lives.
Sponsored by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, several businesses in the city provide employee volunteers to be available to area schools. Beach Ford, Sentara Health System, Household Recovery Services and Virginia Wesleyan College are some of the businesses involved.
Concerned adults from these businesses serve as mentors, who try to enhance their mentee's self-esteem and be helpful with school work. by CNB
