REGULAR-SEASON and tournament champion Norfolk Academy is the only team to put two players on the All-TCIS girls volleyball team in voting by the coaches.
Seniors Amanda Lee, a setter/ hitter, and Kayla Becker, a middle hitter, led the Bulldogs to a 20-0 record and their third straight conference title.
Completing the first team are Norfolk Christian's Mary Webb-Zelinsky, Norfolk Collegiate's Elizabeth Swearingen, Catholic's Karen Phillips and Greenbrier Christian's Erin Van Faussian.
All are seniors except Swearingen, who is a sophomore.
Lee, a three-sport star, led Norfolk Academy in serving accuracy (96 percent), hitting accuracy (85 percent) and assists (114), was second in aces (28) and had 59 kills.
``Amanda lives, eats and breathes volleyball,'' Norfolk Academy coach Susie Fleener said. ``Her level of intensity was very important. Whenever we got down, she helped everybody focus in.''
Becker led the Bulldogs in kills (87), blocks (39) and aces (38).
``I'm most proud of the extra effort Kayla put in in the back row,'' Fleener said. ``Her strength is up front, and I'm sure she finds that more fun, but she worked hard on her passing and became a more complete player.''
Webb-Zelinsky, of Suffolk, a 5-10 middle hitter, led Norfolk Christian in kill percentage and block percentage.
``I think she's a natural,'' Ambassadors coach Nancy Rook said. ``She has very good court sense and anticipates well.''
Webb-Zelinsky's twin sister, Nevie, is second-team All-TCIS.
Phillips, a 5-11 middle hitter, was like a coach in the floor for Catholic, coach Owen Dixon said.
``She led the team in blocks and kills and I wouldn't be sticking my neck out to say she led in passing percentage,'' Dixon said.
Swearingen, a 5-7 middle hitter, also starred on the front line, despite giving up several inches to most opponents.
``She's very quick and a good jumper,'' Oaks coach Tara Voke said. ``She led our team in kills and was second in blocks. Unlike a lot of front row players, she also plays outstanding defense.''
