CHESAPEAKE

Crime lines operate in similar fashion in all the Hampton Roads cities, although each has its own phone number. (You may also use INFOLINE to hear crime line information and to contact police. Details are below.)

This is how Chesapeake Crime Line works:

1. Call 487-1234 and provide information on a crime or fugitive.

2. We document the information and assign you a code number.

3. You call back in two weeks, give your code number and you'll be updated on whether an arrest has resulted from your tip.

4. If an arrest is made, you'll be assigned a code name in addition to your code number.

5. You'll be sent to a designated location where, after verifying your code name and number, you'll receive your cash reward.

We never compromise your identity. In Chesapeake alone, we've paid over $110,000 in cash awards, and recovered $2.3 million in drugs and $1.5 million in stolen property. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
