Mrs. Evelyn Annie Britton Nixon, 75, of Rocky Hock Creek Road, died Sunday, in the Chowan Hospital. A native of Chowan County, Mrs. Nixon was a daughter of the late Cola William and Agnes Toppin Nixon.
Mrs. Nixon is survived by her husband, Archie Nixon; one daughter, Margaret N. Peele of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Donnie Nixon of Greensboro, N.C., and Ralph Nixon of Tyler, Texas. There are two sisters, Ruth Warren of Chesapeake and Jean Perry of Edenton; three brothers, Junius Britton and Fred Britton, both of Edenton, and Alvin Britton of Lanexa, Va. There are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nixon was preceded in death by a son, Howard Nixon.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Evans/Williford-Barham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Nixon Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 until 9 and at other times at the residence of Junius and Legion Britton, 105 Douglas Ave. in Edenton.
