NO INTERSTATE

Your editorial advocating a Hampton Roads Beltway (``Fewer tourists lost,'' Feb. 24) refers to the Norfolk-Virginia Beach Expressway as ``I-44 in Virginia Beach.'' You are wrong by about 1,000 miles!

I-44 runs from Texas (Wichita Falls, I think) to St. Louis, Mo. It doesn't come anywhere near Virginia.

The section of the Expressway that runs through Virginia Beach is not an interstate highway at all. It is Virginia state Route 44.
