Mansfield M. Spicer Sr., of the 1100 block of Micott Drive, a retired civil service employee, died Feb. 27, 1995, in Hampton Veterans Hospital.
Mr. Spicer was born in Greenville, N.C. He retired from Fort Eustis Finance, Fort Eustis, Va., was a member of Miracle Temple Church and was a U.S. Army veteran, first sergeant, and served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Manerva M. Spicer; four daughters, Vera E. Wyatt, Sophronia E. Spicer and Rev. Persina M. Atkinson, all of Hampton, and Delcina M. McBride of Atlanta, Ga.; three sons, Mansfield M. Spicer, Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Rev. Cyronose D. Spicer of Memphis, Tenn., and Ronald L. Spicer of Portsmouth; three sisters, Blondelia R. Morris of Norfolk, Naomi Hinton Martin of Portsmouth and Christine L. Sinclair of Chesapeake; three brothers, Gervis N. Garland of Portsmouth, Rev. James A. Spicer of Selma and Rev. George H. Spicer of Chesapeake; 26 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Miracle Temple Church, Newport News, by the Rev. F.M. Blackwell. Burial will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will be at Cooke Brothers Funeral Home, Newport News, from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
