Clifford A. Hedgepeth, 85, died Feb. 28, 1995, in Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News.
He was a native of Richmond and lived most of his life in Suffolk before moving to the Peninsula eight years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years and retired in 1969 from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 35 years as a supervisor in Shop 51. He was a member of the Huntington Mennonite Church in Newport News.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Yates Hedgepeth; a daughter, Alice Olivia Hedgepeth of Newport News; a son, Clifford A. Hedgepeth Jr. of Franklin; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Underwood of Chuckatuck; a grandson; a granddaughter; and great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday in Huntington Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Gerald W. Showalter. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the residence, 2118 Criston Drive, Newport News. Arrangements are by W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
