Arthur Murphy, 83, of the 5500 block of Poplar Hall Drive, died Feb. 28, 1995, in Lake Taylor Hospital.
Mr. Murphy, a native of New York City, was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Sarah Lord Murphy. A resident of Hampton Roads since the 1940s, he was employed as a representative for Ayerst Laboratories and as a salesman and consultant for the Institute for Business Planning. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church and a charter member and former president of the East Little Creek AARP.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Gloria Mayer Murphy of Norfolk; two children, Arthur Murphy of Cranford, N.J. and Paula Fortin of Portsmouth; and a grandson, Michael Murphy of Norfolk.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at St. Pius Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Friday by Father Joe Metzger. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be available at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel in Virginia Beach from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday to receive friends.
