Elton Forest Ainsley, 71, of the 200 block of West Ave., died early Tuesday morning following a short illness.
A native of Creswell, born Jan. 13, 1924, Mr. Ainsley was the son of the late James I. and Ethel Mae Phelps Ainsley. He was married to Joyce VanHorn Ainsley, who died June 13, 1991. Mr. Ainsley was a member of Plymouth Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are three sons, Brian Ainsley of Portsmouth, Va., Larry Ainsley of Jamesville and Greg Ainsley of Plymouth; a daughter, Pamela Lagcher of Kenly; a sister, Dorothy Cowan of Murfreesboro; and seven grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hillside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Horner-Walker Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and at other times at Mr. Ainsley's residence.
