A 76-year-old man died Tuesday night after firefighters rescued him from a burning house on Columbus Avenue.
George E. Mason of 207 Columbus Ave. was pronounced dead at the Obici Hospital emergency room.
Lt. Jeff Messinger of the Suffolk Fire Department said Mason suffered a heart attack after firefighters brought him out of his burning house.
Mason's house was reported on fire at about 6:51 p.m.
Fire crews left the scene at 8:48.
Messinger said the fire involved about 70 percent of the house and did about $25,000 worth of damage.
