WEEKLY BRIEFING

WORKMAN TO NORFOLK: Navy Lt. Shannon Workman, a pioneer in women's aviation, is being transferred to Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 56 at Norfolk Naval Air Station, where she will fly C-9B Skytrain II transport aircraft. Workman became the first woman to qualify as a combat pilot on the carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower, but was removed earlier this year because of her difficulties in landing the EA-6B Prowler jet on the ship. She is to report to the new squadron in April, joining eight active-duty pilots and 31 reserve pilots.
