After having read ``The elderly should stop stealing from kids'' (letter, Feb. 1), I shook my head in wonderment. Today, after reading ``Do children owe parents nothing?'' and ``Elderly aren't stealing from kids'' (letters, Feb. 25), I feel compelled to write.
What is this world coming to? Is there anything that isn't decided or judged by the almighty dollar? Whatever happened to loyalty and respect?
These ``elderly'' folks we speak of are our parents, our grandparents - the same folks who fought wars for our freedoms and rocked us in the middle of the night. Is it too much to ask that we give back a little of our own lives to enable them to live their remaining years in comfort?
I feel sad for the author of ``The elderly should stop stealing from kids.'' Everyone, though, is entitled to an opinion. I'm hopeful that our Social Security will stay in place and that my elderly parents will continue in good health and be able to stay afloat financially, with any tiny bit of help I can give them.
