Herbert Leo Boettcher, 87, of the 200 block of N. Thalia Road, died March 1, 1995, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Boettcher was born in Blanchard, N.D., and lived in the Tidewater area for 48 years. He retired as a lieutenant from the U.S. Navy after 21 years and from the Naval Air Rework Facility, Norfolk, as an electronics mechanic, after 21 years. He was a member of Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church and an elder in the church, a member of the Thalia Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years and a member of the Retired Officers Association and Fleet Reserve Association Ocean View Branch (NU)60. He attended the North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, N.D., and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy B. Boettcher; two daughters, Carole Black of Hockessin, Del., and Rose Busetti of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, by the Rev. S. David Carriker. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
