Gordon Volt Wheatley, 75, of Tangier Island, Va., a retired waterman, died Feb. 28, 1995, at McCready Hospital in Crisfield, Md.
Mr. Wheatley was born on Tangier Island, Va., and was the son of the late Weldon and Castella Wheatley. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Swain Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Ada Parks Wheatley of Tangier; two sons, Gordon Wayne Wheatley and Nolan Wheatley of Tangier; three daughters, Ruth Marshall, Tina Parks, both of Tangier, and Portia Pruitt of Burke, Va.; two brothers, Freddie Wheatley and Preston Dize of Tangier; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Friday, March 3, 1995, at 2 p.m. in Swain Methodist Church, Tangier, Va., by the Rev. Wade Creadle of Tangier and Rev. Edward Pruitt of Burke, Va.
The family will be at the Benson Educational Building on Tangier Island, Va., on Thursday, March 2, 1995, from 7 to 9 p.m.
