Stanley Brooks Daniels, 75, of the 600 block of Cornwall Road, died March 2, 1995, in Maryview Hospital.
Mr. Daniels was born in Elkins, W.Va. He had retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years' service. He was the front office manager of Holiday Inn, Portsmouth, for seven years and owned his own carpet and furniture cleaning business for six years. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Fleet Reserve Branch 40, American Legion Post 141, Tin Can Sailors Inc., plank owner of the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation, Portsmouth Naval Masonic Lodge (NU)100, Royal Arch Chapter (NU)36, a life member of the American Cribbage Congress, Honorable Order of Cribadier Generals, Tidewater 29ers Grass Roots Club (NU)117. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Gean Daniels; a son, Michael Daniels of Portsmouth; two daughters, Shona Griffin and Peggy McCormick, both of Chesapeake; a sister, Phyllis Williamson of Sanford, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Meagan, Lindsey, Lorey and Ryan.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, March 4, at 2 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Joseh Savinsky. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
