THELMA E. RUETSCHI

Thelma Miller Ruetschi, born in Hertford, raised and schooled in Norfolk, graduated Maury High School, departed this life on Wednesday, March 1, 1995, in Hertford. She was the daughter of the late Hiram A. Miller and Beulah Langley Miller of Creswell and the widow of Herman A. Ruetschi.

Thelma was a member of Edenton United Methodist Church. In years past she was president of Cape Colony Extention Club, an officer in the Norfolk Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, a charter member of Al Kena Temple (NU)124 Daughters of the Nile and was active in the Ellsworth Garden Club.

Survivors include a son, Jack M. McCartney and his wife Barbara of Williamsburg, VA; two grandchildren, Susan McCartney Oncu and Jack Jr. and a great-grandchild, James Oncu.

A graveside service will be held Monday, March 6, at 11:00 am in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Viewing will be on Sunday from 8:30 am until 9:00 pm at Swindell Funeral Home, Hertford.
