Joe Crawford Cutchins Jr., 69, of the first block of Holland Lane, a retired scale master, died March 1, 1995, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk.
Mr. Cutchins was born in Southampton County, son of the late Vergie Coggsdale Cutchins and Joe C. Cutchins Sr. He retired in 1988 from Pond Brothers Peanut Company after 38 years and was a member of Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church, Suffolk. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lorine Foster Cutchins; two daughters, Delores C. Williams of Windsor and Dena C. Steele of Franklin; a son, Jerry C. Cutchins of Smithfield; five sisters, Bernice C. Rodgers and Fay C. Porter, both of Franklin, Ernestine C. Wade of Carrsville, Thelma Williams and Blanche Holloman, both of Hampton; two brothers, Carlton Cutchins of Franklin and Jack Cutchins of Gates County, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Chris Cutchins, Renee Williams and Michelle Cutchins. He was predeceased by a brother, Roger Cutchins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk, by the Rev. Ruffin Alphin. The family will receive friends at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. After the funeral, the family will receive friends at the home of Janice and Richard Byrum, 24515 Ennis Mill Road, Windsor.
