Diversity Food Processing, which supplies beef to Burger King, plans to open a plant in Petersburg. The $20 million facility is expected to provide 70 jobs. On Friday, the state gave a $435,000 check to Petersburg to acquire and prepare a site for the plant. The company is a joint venture among Steve Singleteary, president and chief executive of Diversity Food Processing; Hudson Foods Inc.; and Burger King Corp. When the plant becomes fully operational, Diversity Food is expected to be among the top 15 minority-owned companies in the United States, according to Black Enterprise Magazine. by CNB
