The Army's Transportation Center has announced a reduction-in-force of 96 jobs at Fort Eustis in Newport News and Fort Story in Virginia Beach as a result of budget cuts.
Thirteen jobs are at Fort Story, where one of two fire department companies is being eliminated.
The other jobs are at Fort Eustis, involving the Transportation Center and 8th Transportation Brigade.
This is the fifth time since January 1991 that Fort Eustis has announced major job losses, with a total of 450 workers being laid off, reassigned or moved to lower positions.
Nationwide, the Army plans to eliminate 12,600 jobs by October and 24,000 by the end of the decade. by CNB
