The Group AA Region I boys basketball tournament features a Bay Rivers tournament semifinal rematch between Franklin and Nansemond River tonight at Southampton High School.
The first game will pair Bay Rivers District No. 2 seed Lakeland and the Southside District's top seed, Bluestone, at 6:30 p.m. Nansemond River and Franklin meet at 8.
The Warriors needed a last-second shot from Antoine Willie to top the Broncos, 64-62, in the semifinals of the Bay Rivers District tournament last week in a game Franklin took as a moral victory. This will be the fourth meeting of the year for these teams. The Warriors have wins of 100-77, 80-66 and 64-62.
``Let's hope it's our turn this time,'' Franklin's Wade Williams said. ``We'll try to give them a run for it. If we go in there and start crashing the boards . . . ''
Crashing the boards and a pair of late free throws from Sidney Gainey helped the Broncos edge Greensville, 50-49, on Tuesday night.
Lakeland broke open a tie game in the fourth quarter with three 3-pointers to top Brunswick, 69-62.
Bluestone, which had a first-round bye, didn't come by its 17-5 record easily this season. Ten of the Barons games were decided by four points or less. by CNB
