Viola K. Gardner, 76, of the 3700 block of Cannon Point Drive, died March 3, 1995, in her residence.
Mrs. Gardner was born in Portsmouth. She was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church and the Jean Poe Baptist Women's Group of the church.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph L. Gardner Jr.; a daughter, Barbara G. Valley of Bristol, Conn.; three sons, Linwood O. Gardner of Newport News, Va., Bill Gardner and Mike Gardner, both of Chesapeake; two sisters, Winnie Hoggard of Syria, Va., and Grace Simpson of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Olive Branch Cemetery by Dr. Albert Peverall. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends at the residence from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
