Edna Perrow Harrell, 90, a retired school teacher and widow of Henry Thomas Harrell, died Friday, March 3, 1995, in Lafayette Villa Health Care Center, Norfolk.
She was born in Bedford, Va., and was the daughter of the late Walter Raymond and Fannie Steptoe Perrow. She was a member of First Christian Church, Norfolk, and was a graduate of Longwood College. She was a resident of Boykins in the 1930s. Her 34-year teaching career included employment in Southampton County, Norfolk and Virginia Beach school districts. After her retirement in 1965, she served as dormitory mother at Randolph-Macon Woman's College and later at Norfolk General School of Nursing.
She is survived by her son, James Henry Harrell of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Henry Thomas Harrell II, Maranatha Joy Harrell, Jennifer Lynn Harrell and two great-grandchildren, Joanna Xene Harrell and Charlotte Wraye Harrell.
A funeral service will be conducted in Kempsville Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, at 1 p.m. Monday by Dr. Kelly Burris and Dr. Donald O'Dey. Friends and family will assemble at 4 p.m. Monday in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, for the burial. The family will receive friends at Kempsville Baptist Church from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, the day of the service. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, is handling arrangements.
