Elonzia Holmes Sr., 71, of the 100 block of Allard Road, died March 2, 1995, in Maryview Hospital.
Mr. Holmes was born in Holland, Va. He was a member of Third Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lela Holmes; two daughters, Ophelia H. Walton and Geraldine Holmes, both of Portsmouth; a son, Elonzia Holmes Jr. of Hampton, Va.; a sister, Catherine Smith of Portsmouth; a brother, Riddick Holmes of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Darren Holmes of Alexandria, Va., Staci Walton-Shipman of Charlottesville, Va., and Kelli Walton of Portsmouth; two great-grandchildren, Maurice Holmes of Alexandria, Va., and Nia Elonzia Shipman of Charlottesville, Va.; son-in-law, James Walton of Portsmouth; and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Holmes of Hampton, Va.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Third Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe B. Fleming. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk.
