ALMA D. SWANNER

Alma D. ``Chris'' Swanner, 78, of 3905 Holland Road, Suffolk, Va., died March 3, 1995, at Obici Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late William J. Doughtie and Sarah Piland Doughtie. She was a native of Gates County, N.C. She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, The Ladies Star Bible Class and the Staley Circle.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 55 years, Hubert H. Swanner; her loving daughter and son, Mary ``Micki'' Swanner Tucker of Topsail Island, N.C., and H.H. ``Buck'' Swanner of Ballwin, Mo.; six adoring grandchildren: Fran Greiner, Beth Swanner, Laura Swanner, Michelle Tucker, John Michael Tucker and Tate Tucker; six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Sallie Mary D. Wolfley of Newport News, Va.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. March 6, 1995, at the Hill Funeral Home Suffolk, Va., by Dr. Merle D. Correll. The entombment will be at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be at the family home, Sunday, March 5, 1995, from 4 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to: Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23434, and the Bethlehem Christian Church Building Fund, 1549 Holland Road, Suffolk, Va. 23434.
