MADELEINE S. WATKINS

Madeleine Smith Watkins, 94, of 6664 Whaleyville Blvd. died March 4, 1995 in her home.

A native of Lebanon Community, Anderson, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Aron John and Ettie Jameson Smith and the widow of Charles Smith Watkins. She was predeceased by a son, Charles S. Watkins, Jr. Mrs. Watkins was a former teacher in the elementary school in Whaleyville. She was a member for fifty-four years of Great Fork Baptist Church and a former Sunday School teacher of the Ruth Bible Class. She was a graduate of Anderson College, S.C., and Radford University.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Del Watkins of Fayetteville, N.C.; one sister, Thelma S. Clyburn of Norfolk; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Great Fork Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Bruce and Dr. Norman E. Mitchell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Great Fork Baptist Church. The family will be at the home. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
