Barrett was chairman of the board of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce when he was appointed to Congressman Owen Pickett's 1995 BRAC Committee. He is now immediate past chairman of the Chamber's board. N. Robert Kopecko Jr. is the current chairman. A story in Sunday's Beacon didn't state that Barrett's status on the board had changed.
