Dora H. Owens, 95, died March 3, 1995.
She was a native of Smithfield and resident for 93 years and lived in Virginia Beach for the past two years. She was a member of Brown's AME Church and Sunday School teacher for 55 years, a member of the Senior Choir, Stewardess Board Pastor's Aid Committee and Missionary Circle. She was also a member of Wisteria Elk Temple (NU)545, Tidewater Daughter Rulers Council, past Grand Daughter Ruler, past State President, Mother of Junior Elks, St. Delight Tent (NU)57 and Royal Degree Circle.
She is survived by a daughter, Geneva Holloway-Jones of Virginia Beach; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Brown's AME Church by the Rev. Queen E. Snell. Burial will be in Ebenezer Memorial Cemetery, Smithfield. The body will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Elks-Tents services will be at 7 p.m. today. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
