DELCENIA H. GHOLSON

Delcenia Harper Gholson, of the 900 block of Vermont Ave., died March 4, 1995, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.

Mrs. Gholson was born in Norfolk County, Va. and was a retired teacher from the Portsmouth City Public School System. She was the widow of Ralph W. Gholson and was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Temple Church, Portsmouth, for over 40 years. She was a member of the Temple Guild and Berean Bible Class, National State and Local Education Association, Portsmouth Retired Teachers Association, Les Hirondell Social Club, Epicureans, Inc. and former member of Divine Baptist Church (Deep Creek), Chesapeake.

Survivors include her sister, Virgie H. Hammond of Portsmouth; one niece, Earline H. Cradle of Newton, Mass.; four nephews, including C. Hilery Harper of Richmond, Va.; nine great-nieces; three great-nephews; cousins; a devoted sister-in-law, Elleen L. Harper of Chesapeake; a devoted brother-in-law, Earl Hammond of Portsmouth; and other in-laws and many devoted friends.

The funeral will be conducted Saturday, March 11, 1995, at 1 p.m. by the Rev. J. R. Briggs in Mt. Hermon Baptist Temple Church, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.
