WARNER NO CONSERVATIVE

After reading Patricia Stultz's ``In praise of Warner'' (letter, Feb. 3) and columnist Guy Friddell's ``GOP politico is invited to pipe down and wise up'' (MetroNews, Feb. 27), I am a little confused.

Guy Friddell could be called a yellow-dog Democrat. However, he has been a strong supporter of Senator Warner, whom he says is a conservative Republican.

Now let's look at Patricia Stultz's letter. She states, ``He did not break with his (Republican) party; rather, they deserted his conservative voice of reason.'' Later she states that she is a liberal Democrat but she would vote for Warner anytime.

So we have two liberal Democrats supporting a conservative Republican. To make this scenario come out right, we have to believe that Friddell and Stultz are now conservative Republicans or Senator Warner is more like a liberal Democrat than a conservative Republican. I believe the facts indicate the latter.
