BAYSIDE MARLINS WILL HOST FIRST SCRIMMAGE JAMBOREE

Bayside will host the inaugural Bayside Lady Marlins Softball Scrimmage Jamboree Saturday on the Marlins' home field.

Six teams from the Beach, Eastern and Southeastern districts will compete in six five-inning contests - allowing each team a maximum Virginia High School League rules 10 innings of scrimmage. Also to meet VHSL guidelines, there will be an admissions charge of $3 for adults and $1 for school-aged children.

The competition will feature five teams that advanced to last year's Eastern Region tournament. One team - Great Bridge - advanced to last year's Group AAA semifinals.

``I feel like, if you can scrimmage the best teams available, you'll be more ready to go when the season gets here,'' Parker said.

Competing at 9 a.m. will be Princess Anne against Booker T. Washington. Bayside against Granby will follow at 10:15 a.m. Salem and Great Bridge face off at 11:30 a.m. Starting the afternoon session will be Princess Anne against Granby at 12:45 p.m., followed by Salem against BTW at 2 p.m. and Bayside against Great Bridge at 3:15 p.m.
