Thelma B. Raines, 94, formerly of Petersburg, Va., died on Wednesday, March 8, 1995, in a Portsmouth nursing home.
Mrs. Raines was a native of Sussex County, Va., and was the widow of Eddie Raines. For many years, she was co-owner of Raines Grocery and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Petersburg.
Her survivors include a great-niece, Joan Moody Joseph; two great-nephews, Boyd O. Moody Jr. and Eric O. Moody; a nephew by marriage, the Rev. Dr. Boyd O. Moody Sr., all of Chesapeake, who have maintained guardianship; a great-niece, Karen Moody Hoskins of Randallstown, Md.; nieces, Bessie H. Bell, Kate H. Johnson and Annie P. Freeman, all of Petersburg, Sallie H. Taylor of Philadelphia, Pa., Ethel P. Newsome of Richmond; nephews, John H. Hollemon of Sussex County, Va., and Roger Perry of Petersburg; and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The funeral procession will leave the home of the Rev. B.O. Moody at 3577 Galberry Road in Chesapeake at 1 p.m. Saturday. Graves Funeral Home, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
