Ruth Simons ``Mimmie'' Meads, 73, of the first block of Mohawk Drive, died March 10, 1995, in her residence.
Mrs. Meads was a native of Blackwater, Va., and was the widow of John Bradley Meads Sr. She retired as a bookkeeper/clerk for Armistead-Morrison Co. in Portsmouth and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include three sons, John B. Meads Jr. and Kenneth R. Meads, both of Chesapeake, and William R. Meads of Portsmouth, and three beloved daughters-in-law, Anne, Merrell and Carol; two brothers, Cecil R. Simons of Grandy, N.C., and Willie A. Simons of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Bethany Baptist Church by the Rev. Gene V. Primm. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
