OLIVER NORTH STARTS NEW CAREER MONDAY: RADIO TALK SHOW HOST

Oliver North will launch a new career Monday as a radio talk show host. The retired Marine of Iran-Contra fame and former Republican Senate candidate from Virginia will take to the airwaves to host a weekday afternoon radio show.

``We're getting a lot of interest,'' said Leigh Dowe, operations manager for the Dallas-based Salem Radio Network, which is syndicating the program.

``Virginia has been very active. All of the big stations have been calling us.''

North will run the show from Washington on WWRC, an AM radio station. The show will go national on April 3. Many stations in Virginia that now carry Rush Limbaugh's show are likely to carry North's, Dowe said.

To publicize the show, North has launched radio ads in the Washington area and is scheduled to appear on NBC's ``Today Show'' on Monday morning.

North spent $20 million last year in an unsuccessful bid to unseat Democratic Sen. Charles Robb. by CNB
