Whale-watching trips with the Virginia Marine Science Museum have been extended through March 20.
More than 19,000 people have taken whale-watching boat excursions since they began in January. Whales have been sighted on 89 percent of the trips.
``VMSM has offered these trips since 1992 and this has been our most successful season by far,'' said C. Mac Rawls, museum director. ``We've exceeded our expectations and we're thrilled that the whales seem to be extending their stay this year, which gives us the opportunity to teach even more people about these magnificent marine mammals.''
Public trips are scheduled Fridays through Mondays. The cost is $12 for adults and $10 for children age 11 and younger. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling the museum at 437-4949 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by CNB
