PLATES N ER GISE YOUR MIND TO THINK

After penning a license-plate column in November, I promised no more until ``next year.''

Welcome to next year.

Thanks to friends who CHIP IN and my own erratic driving while writing what I see, the list is a-piling. WE DIGIT.

Many plates are UNIQUEE, some make you THINK such as JACATCK, 4 5 PLORN, GIZZER and WUTN ME.

Most, though, are fairly obvious.

It is also obvious that the drivers with the BAC 2WVA and VA MTNZ plates wish they were somewhere else. On the other hand SUFFOLK and I DIG VA (it belongs to an archaeologist) seem content.

These folks also seem content - and lovin': LVBRDS, CUDDLIE, NO CAUSE, B SWEET, BB NICE, BE NICE2, OSO CUTE, RU OKIAM, 2BPLZD and, of course, NO GUILT.

That's a lengthy list. IM ALL N, but will press forward and dive into these wet items: MUD CRZY (on a tall Toyota), ANY BCH, SNWSTRM, SNO BRD 1, THE SEA, DO H2O and H20LVRS.

Other lovers include LUV KATZ and LVBRDS.

Lots of drivers love what they're driving including BLK TK. If he trades it in he will have to buy another plate. Same probably goes for TINCAR2.

Virginian-Pilot and Suffolk Sun photographer/motorcycle enthusiast Michael Kestner gets the blame and/or credit for seeing T&A&HD on a Harley.

Another driver likes to RYD4FUN. I guess this qualifies as transportation: RIKASHA. So does DADS B29.

MY 64GAL was, obviously, on a Ford product from that year. Equally obviously, VET 4 FUN belongs to a Corvette enthusiast. And, there is 1 JAZY LX and OURZ2.

A country music enthusiast has a license plate tribute to GRTH BRK. NO JOKE.

Music in general seems to be a fairly popular subject. There's MUSICL 1, MUSIK 2 - MUS LDY and MUS DIR.

There's TOP90 and TOP 10 - there's ROKBILLY

Instrumentally, there's ORGAN and PIANOS.

Because of space limitations, letters have to be left out on plates carrying abbreviated messages such as HEARTEC.

There was no room for the letter ``I'' or ``E'' on these plates, but the message is clear: NTRUDER, NTICE ME, N TENCE, IM ALL N and N ER GISE.

One of the most unusual plates - I didn't know this could be done - is NUT$ 2-U. Other plates, not unusual in Planters-land, are PNUTS4U and IBY PNUT.

Nuts to an international body is the opinion of the man driving the car with the plate U N NO.

Other politically minded folks include the two drivers urging you to cast your ballots - 2 VOTE and U-VOTE 2.

Just think, you'll be voting for D PREZ in '96.

93 UNTIL. My guess is that he bought the car that year and is waiting to see how long it keeps going.

How long can these folks keep going? LUVTRBL and the ever-lov-in' I LUV PMS.

Maybe that's just somebody who likes the afternoon hours. Somebody who likes Saturdays and Sundays has this plate - WK ENDS.

That's a good time for sports. Here are a few: TEES 4 U, 1ST CAST (that could be a fisherman or an actor), GIANTS 9 (is that half a ballgame?), SEC BASE, BST RDSX, RUN&ROW, I RACE, SK8 ADIC, HNTSMAN, BLK BLTS and 1NO2FAN.

Two plates I saw concern the owners economic thoughts - YB RICH and PORE.

Two Al Jolson enthusiasts seem to be roaming the area's highways and byways with plates reading MAMMY and MAMMIE.

Those two should get together for a chorus.

We'll get together with more plates - well - when spring springs.

Until then - THK GOOD. ILLUSTRATION: Staff photo by MICHAEL KESTNER

Get it? These license plate owners are water lovers.
