CAREER TRACK

BANKING

The Bank of Tidewater appointed Paul B. Keister vice president in commercial lending and Cheryl Harris a branch officer and manager of its new branch on Laskin Road in Virginia Beach.

Keister was a vice president with Dominion Bank. Harris was an assistant branch officer in the bank's Independence Boulevard office.

Richard F. Welton was appointed marketing director with Princess Anne Bank in Virginia Beach. Welton was a senior business developer in the financial services department with Central Fidelity Bank.

Heritage Bank & Trust in Norfolk promoted Karen Stephensen from an accounting assistant to controller. Stephensen has been with the bank since 1987.

Clarence W. Keel was appointed financial and investor relations officer with Life Savings Bank in Norfolk. He will be work with investment management and investor relations. Keel was with Seaboard Savings BAnk in Virginia Beach.

ENGINEERING

John Lowenthal was appointed an environmental specialist with Langley and McDonald in Virginia Beach. He specializes in wetland delineation and assessments, mitigation plan development and permitting. Lowenthal, who has a master's degree in biology, was formerly with an environmental consulting firm in California.

William R. Turner was promoted to director of planning with William C. Overman Associates in Virginia Beach. Turner has been an assistant project manager with the firm for the past five years.

Overman also appointed Glen S. Barr and James R. Barnes project engineers. Barr was with the office of water programs with the Virginia Department of Health, and Barnes was previously associated with DSDJ Inc. in Hampton.

HEALTH CARE

The Chesapeake City Council appointed the following five new members to serve on the board of the Chesapeake General Hospital Authority:Dr. Nicholas H. Augenstein, Dr. Richard T. Holden, Dr. Prudencio Mendez Jr., Benjamin M. Williams II and Benny J. Sessions.

Augenstein, Holden and Mendez are on the medical staff of the hospital, Williams is with GTE Virginia and Sessions is with the Chesapeake Post.

HOSPITALITY

Brenda Magnetti was appointed manager of promotions with Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Magnetti has been with Anheuser-Busch Theme Parks for more than five years, most recently as director of promotions at Cypress Gardens in Florida.

Suzanne Savage was appointed director of development with the Peninsula Fine Arts Center in Newport News. Savage was the annual statewide fund director with the Virginia Opera in Norfolk.

Tom Jones was appointed sous chef with Gus' Mariner Restaurant in the Ramada Inn on Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach. Jones, a graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Norfolk, was a sous chef with Mahi-Mah's in Virginia Beach.

The Virginia Beach Resort Hotel promoted Michael Riddlehoover from executive sous chef to executive chef in its TradeWinds Restaurant.

Jeffrey Scacchi was replaces Riddlehoover as executive sous chef. Scacchi has been a sous chef with the Princess Anne Country Club.

Joan Heikens was appointed general sales manager for Nauticus, the national maritime center in Norfolk. Heikens was director of national sales with Spirit Cruises Inc. in Norfolk

INSURANCE

Donald E. Sharpe was appointed underwriter manager with Henderson & Phillips Insurance in Norfolk. Sharpe was an account executive with Dean Witter Reynolds. He formerly served as vice president of Alexander & Alexander Inc. in Norfolk.

WHOLESALE

Noland Co. in Newport News named Frank A. Wimbush senior vice president of marketing and branch operations. He replaces Donald G. Hurley who retired last year, and will also be named to fill Hurley's seat on Noland's board of directors.

Wimbush, 49, was vice president of sales and marketing for All-Phase Electric Supply Co., a private family operated firm in Michigan.

Noland also appointed Arthur A. Brown manager of merchandising, plumbing and heating. Brown was manager of the company's operations in Nashville.
