REGIONAL PROMOTION NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE

Hampton Roads cities have planned a regional tourism venture which includes a 30-minute infomercial on Tidewater's goodies. But Colonial Williamsburg isn't sure whether it will join the tourism venture

The reason?

The historical tourist attraction has launched its own regional venture with Busch Gardens, the Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center.

Paul Kusserow, Colonial Williamsburg's marketing director, said CW has to see whether it's appropriate for the attraction to join a second venture when it's already is succeeding in its own program.

``What we don't want is for these similar packages to start canceling each other out,'' he said.

Caldor plans to open up to eight discount stores in Hampton Roads. One site being considered is the Builders Square store in Chesapeake across from Greenbrier Mall. Builders Square, a home improvement chain, recently announced plans to close that store.

Boston Market has entered the fast-food fray. The fast-growing rotisserie-cooked chicken chain plans to open seven Hampton Roads stores this year through Platinum Rotisserie Corp., franchisee for southeastern Virginia.

Fazoli's Italian Restaurants of Lexington, Ky., plans to open its second Virginia eatery, in Newport News.

Planters peanuts covered in chocolate will be sold in stores and theaters soon. Suffolk-based Planters has sold few if any candy covered goobers since its 1912 launch.
