James E. ``Ed'' Pearce Jr., 83, of the 2700 block of Fenway Ave., a retired blacksmith, died March 11, 1995, in Chesapeake.
Mr. Pearce was born in Bertie County, N.C. He had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 1972. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Saunders Pearce and was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. He was also a member of Tidal Wave Masonic Lodge 273.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay R. Pearce of Chesapeake and Leola P. Smith of Suffolk; two sons, James E. Pearce III of Chesapeake and Gregory E. Pearce of Midlothian, Va.; three sisters, Maude White and Lucy Livermon, both of Harrellsville, N.C. and Mary Castelloe of LaGrange, N.C.; three granddaughters, Cheryl Bland of Chesterfield County,Va., Sylvia Arlene Smith and Lisa Kay Tarkington of Suffolk; and a grandson, Kevin Pearce of Midlothian.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, by the Rev. Ernie Myers and Dr. Roscoe. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence. Masonic rites will be accorded at the graveside.
