LOLA BROWN EARL

Mrs. Lola Brown Earl, 88, a native and lifelong resident of Newport News, died Saturday, March 11, 1995.

Mrs. Earl retired from the Newport News School System in 1972 after 30 years as a teacher. After retirement she taught in the Orcutt Baptist Church School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Newport News, where she taught adult Sunday School and was active in the choir. Mrs. Earl was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Educational Fraternity and participated in various civic, professional and church-related organizations.

She is survived by a daughter, Rachel Lola Earl of Moruya, Australia; two sons, Henry S. Earl Jr. of Smithfield and Dr. Walter R. Earl of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Dixon of Newport News; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 12:30 p.m. today in Peninsula Funeral Home by the Rev. Marvin White. Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family received friends 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday evening in the funeral home.
