Ruth Elizabeth Riggins, 68, of the 6500 block of Sorby Court, a retired unit secretary, died March 11, 1995, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Riggins was born in Norfolk and was retired from DePaul Medical Center after 21 years of service. She was the daughter of the late Alma J. and Richard Kelly and was the widow of Milton Riggins. She was a former member of St. James AME Church, Pastor's Aide, Senior Choir and Rebecca United Order of Tents (NU)709.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn R. Lacey, Celestine Riggins, both of Norfolk, and Marlene C. Riggins of Virginia Beach; three sons, Milton Paul Riggins, Hilton Riggins and Shelton Riggins, all of Norfolk; a sister, Tillie Mae Pollard of Norfolk; a brother, Richard Kelly of Norfolk; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a god-daughter, Zelinda O. Clark of Connecticut.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. James AME Church by the Rev. William A. Dyson. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The body will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Thursday. The family will assemble at 2907 Earlscourt Ave. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
