Talk of the town: One Hampton Roads city?

The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce will hold a Talk of the Town at the Omni International Hotel on Tuesday, March 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. The discussion will focus on the potential merger of local cities' services, governmental structures and schools.

Members of the panel will include J. Daniel Ballard, retired advertising executive; Gerald S. Divaris of Divaris Real Estate Inc.; Norfolk Mayor Paul D. Fraim; Hunter A. Hogan of Hunter Hogan Real Estate Counseling Inc.; and Wolfgang Pindur with the department of urban studies at Old Dominion University.

The panel will discuss whether a more unified Hampton Roads could attract large employers, national conventions and major league sports teams. For information, call the chamber at 622-2312. (Staff) Owens & Minor wins Sentara supply contract

Owens & Minor Inc. and Sentara Health System signed a five-year medical/surgical supplies and distribution-services contract. Richmond-based Owens & Minor anticipates sales of $125 million over the life of the new agreement, more than doubling its current sales volume with Norfolk-based Sentara, Hampton Roads' largest health care provider.

Under the deal, Sentara will turn over all of its materials-management functions, warehousing and distribution operations to Owens & Minor. (Staff) by CNB
