The Neighbor to Neighbor Campaign of the Isle of Wight Unit of the American Heart Association has been an outstanding success. Our goal of $4,000 was realized on Heart Sunday, Feb. 26, and we have reached a total of $5,647 to date, with more kits still to be returned.
Heart and circulatory diseases cause more deaths than all other causes combined, and the generosity of Isle of Wight people will help prevent early death from heart diseases. Research in preventative measures, surgery and medications continues to reduce the death rate from these diseases slowly but steadily.
Our special thanks to feature writer Linda McNatt for her insightful article on the Neighbor to Neighbor Campaign and what we were trying to accomplish. Our grateful thanks also to all the dedicated neighborhood volunteers who knocked on doors, made phone calls, delivered and picked up kits and worked so tirelessly to help others.
We appreciate everything you have done for the heart cause.
