Grace Turner Joyner, 93, of Bride St., died Tuesday, March 14, 1995, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Joyner was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Alice Joyner Turner. She was the widow of James Henry Joyner. Mrs. Joyner was a longtime member of Courtland United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and former member of the Ladies Aid Society of the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Alice Joyner of Courtland and India J. Williams of Colonial Beach; a son, W. Thomas Joyner and his wife, Patsy R. Joyner, and another daughter-in-law, Eleanor F. Joyner, all of Courtland; five half-sisters, Louise Harstell of Hopewell, Elsie Plum, Mamie Howlett, Mary Matthews, Alma Johnson; and three half-brothers, Beamon Turner, Reginald Turner and Alton Turner, all of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Joyner was predeceased by one son, James Henry Joyner Jr. and one grandchild, Carolyn Joyner Williams.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, by the Rev. John Wimer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Love Meal Program at Courtland United Methodist Church, or the Courtland Rescue Squad, Courtland, Va. 23837. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
