BERNICE F. WILLIAMS

Bernice Fitchett Williams of the 1600 block of Atlantic Ave., retired owner of Williams Fuel Oil, died March 14, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Williams was born in Norfolk County. She was the daughter of the late Addie and Charlie Fitchett and the widow of Alexander Williams Sr. She was a member of Providence United Church of Christ, past president of the Kitchen Committee, served as former church clerk for many years, former member of the Deaconess Board, Pastor's Aid Officer, Children's Church teacher and devoted secretary of Bessie Ellison Chapter (NU)220 Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, LaVerne W. Hearn and Cherita W. Clemons of Chesapeake; five sons, Alexander Williams Jr. and Ronnell Williams of Chesapeake, Charles B. Williams of Virginia Beach, the Rev. Geoffrey Williams of Richmond and Reginald Williams of Hampton; a sister, Beatrice F. Harrell of Chesapeake; a brother, Floyd E. Fitchett Sr. of Chesapeake; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Providence United Church of Christ by Dr. Alexander Jamison Sr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. to noon on the day of the funeral. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday. Fitchett Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
