BALMY WEATHER WILL END AS WEEKEND ARRIVES

If you want to enjoy a touch of summer, you'd better get outside today.

The balmy weather is likely to end - just in time for the weekend.

Today is expected to be mostly sunny with a high in the low 80s as a high-pressure system continues to dominate the region's weather while moving east off the South Carolina coast.

The mercury is forecast to drop precipitously tonight, however, dipping to the mid-40s by dawn as a cold front moves in from the northwest. There is a small chance of thunderstorms as it passes.

The high Thursday was 81 at the National Weather Service office at Norfolk International Airport. That was well above the normal of 58 for this time of year but four degrees shy of the record set in 1945. by CNB
