William E. Honeyblue is among about 100 outstanding graduates of historically black colleges and universities being honored as distinguished alumni this week during a national conference in Washington.
Elizabeth City State University nominated Honeyblue for the honor, given by the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education.
Honeyblue retired from the Martin County Board of Education in Williamston. A native of Creswell, he earned a bachelor's degree from Elizabeth City State University in 1941.
Honeyblue also received a master's degree from North Carolina Central University in 1962. He and others will be honored at an awards banquet Saturday at the Washington Hilton Hotel. by CNB
