A woman killed in a house fire March 5 has been identified by the Portsmouth Fire Department as Anastasia R. Whitmore.
Whitmore, 26, was killed when a fire in the 1200 block of Wirt Ave. in the Prentis Park section heavily damaged the single-story frame house where she lived. Whitmore apparently was overcome by smoke from the blaze.
Investigators said the fire was accidental, sparked by a space heater that had been placed too close to combustible materials.
