BABY ANGEL VALENTINE WILL GET PROPER BURIAL STILL UNKNOWN: MOTHER OF THE BABY FOUND IN THE TRASH.

Baby Angel Valentine, born without a name or a family, will have both when she is buried on Wednesday.

Her name came from the workers who found the unidentified newborn in the garbage at the Southeastern Public Service Authority's trash-to-steam plant Feb. 13.

Standing in as her family will be Portsmouth detectives and police officers who arranged a funeral for the girl.

They wrote to Social Services for burial-assistance money and arranged with Fisher Funeral Home in Portsmouth and Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake to handle the preparation of the body and the burial.

A police chaplain will officiate at the noon graveside service at Greenlawn, 3920 Airline Blvd., near Greenwood Drive.

``The negative side is, we still haven't been able to establish the identity of the mother of this baby,'' said Cpl. G.A. Brown, a police spokesman. The few leads received by investigators have turned into dead ends.
