LUDICROUS LETTER

Regarding ``The world needs more abortions'' (letter, March 4), this point of view is ludicrous! Murder is not acceptable as birth control.

What the writer is saying is it's OK and legal to go out and kill a couple of thousand children today because they're hungry, because they're homeless, because they're addicted, because they don't have a responsible adult to care for them, because they live in frustration and poverty.

Another ridiculous statement in the letter: ``Once a woman becomes pregnant, abortion is the only alternative to bringing another child into a (crowded world.)'' What about adoption? What about all the thousands of families on waiting lists for several years waiting to adopt babies?

My prayer is that one day we spend as much time, effort, money and passion on resolving the real problems as is being spent on the abortion debate. Then is when ``abortions will become rare.'' Yes, ``the sooner the better.''
